My Story...
Â
I first started my professional career as a Board-Certified General Pediatrician in 2005 after completing my medical education at University of Rochester School of Medicine and my pediatric residency at University of California Davis Medical Center. I’m also a proud Obie--ie a graduate of Oberlin College!
Â
So wait, how did I end up here, talking to you as a professional life coach?!
Â
I formally discovered the world of coaching a few years ago and was immediately fascinated. After listening to various podcasts and reading many books on the topic, I decided to hire a physician coach to work with directly. I was dealing with various challenging life circumstances, including some serious health issues of my own, and was seeking clarity on how I wanted to go forward in my professional as well as personal life.
Â
While I only met with that coach a handful of times, that experience along with everything I had been exposed to around coaching prior to that eventually led me to the realization that I wanted to become a coach myself! I had loved helping others through the practice of medicine but was now feeling pulled toward helping people in this whole other way.
Â
In 2020, I began my training in a Life-Coaching Certification program and knew I was on the right path. During the same time period I also went through the University of Washington's Certificate in Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership course. I graduated from both programs in the Spring of 2021.
Â
From there I pitched a proposal to my clinic to develop an in-house coaching program that would provide much-needed coaching for our physicians and ACP’s (advanced clinical practitioners) who had been going through such a difficult time with the Covid pandemic, on top of the long-standing challenges of being a clinician. The proposal was ultimately approved and I led the initial coaching cohort of 10 clinicians over the Summer of 2021.
Â
Since then, I have coached over 150 clinicians (including physicians, ARNP's, PA's, mental health therapists, pharmacists, and PT's) through this Clinician Coaching  Program and the feedback from participants has been phenomenal!
Â
That same year I also founded this business, Sara Tamarin, MD Coaching LLC.  Here I have the privilege of coaching a wide variety of professionals, including both those who work inside as well as outside of the healthcare space.
Finally, as if 2021 wasn’t already exciting enough, it was then that I was asked to return to the classroom of the UW Certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership, but this time as an assistant instructor and leadership coach. The 2023-2024 Winter-Spring session of this course will mark my 3rd round of teaching and coaching there, where I get to help support brilliant, creative women making their mark in the entrepreneurial and intrapraneurial landscape.
On a personal note, I live in Seattle, WA with my two amazing kids and my sweet golden retriever, Sunny (pictured above as a pup). I enjoy many things, including being silly with my kids, playing with and snuggling Sunny, being with friends and family, listening to music, watching TV/movies, walking, being in nature, and consuming all things involving personal development, habit-change, time management, leadership, entrepreneurship, and the like. Much of the time you'll find me with my AirPods in, listening to a podcast, Audible, or workshop within that realm. I can't get enough of it!
I look forward to learning more about you!
